Kesler has now missed the last 11 games - and the Canucks record in those games?

7-2-2 or 16 points out of a possible 22.

Is anyone surprised?

GF 32 GA 27 (How do you go 7-2-2, and only score 5 more goals than the opposition? blink.gif )

PK 45 for 49 or 91.8%

I thought that his absence would cause a lot more damage to the PK, as well as the ability to defend against opposing top lines...

So - I guess props need to go out to Burrows, Green, Linden, Cooke, Morrison, and Bulis on the PK - they didn't miss a beat.

I think the "damage" is somewhat reduced by Morrison and Cooke's "resurgence" since Kesler's injury; and of course, full props to Green and Burrows on the PK unit

i was thinking the same thing.

the team looked kinda lost the first few games w/o him. i think our record in the first 4 w/o him was a lot worse than the last 4.

i still think they miss his speed on the forcheck & his in your face style that pisses off the other team.

but overall they seemed to have come to terms with the loss and moved on.

it'll be nice if he can factor in again come playoffs tho.

I thought we discussed this in an earlier thread, as long as Fitzy keeps playing we cannot lose.

Kesler was playing at the beginning of the season when we had the poor start, wasn't he?

wink.gif

I like Burrows, if someone buys him a new pair of skates maybe he will stay on his feet to get near the goal and score a legitimate goal.

All this talk.....are we alluding to the possibility that we don't need Kesler's $1.9M on the books next season? unsure.gif

Chouinard continues to be a huge disappointment.

I said at the begining of the year the guy is a huge waste space.

Alot of people on this board defended him, and said he will turn it around.

Where are those people now???

The guy hasn't stepped up at all.

He's not chipping in offense like he was supposed to.

He's not winning face offs like he's supposed to.

He's not helping on the PK like he was supposed to.

1) I agree - 2 goals and 2 assists is highly disappointing
2) I agree - this is very disconcerting, as it is one of the main reasons he was brought in. He was 16.7% against Colorado last night, and only played 7:19
3) I disagree - he has performed well on PK, active stick, fairly aggressive on the puck, and has had many good clears. But for $1.1M, good PK is not enough.

In our playoff series with Minnesota, I remember Chouinard getting like 3 or 4 goals and thinking Man who is this guy.

Nonis must have thought that he was getting that version of chouinard. Actually if you think about it Mitchell, chouinard and park were among the more impressive players in that series, and they all ended up Canucks.

Chouinard was playing for Anaheim during our playoff series with Minnesota. I think it's fair to say that a lot more offensive production was expected out of Chouinard.

Everyone said he would step up once Kesler went down.

He has stunk up Gm Place worse then Mark Messier's jock strap.

At this point, if we are offered ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING, for this guy we need to take it and get rid of his $1.1 for next season.

I mean I would rather have Rypien, Moran, or Reid her making half but doing more.

Santala is in the same boat as Chouinard. These guys are busts of the biggest order.

I guess you're right. I don't know who I was thinking of. All I remeber is that there was a brief period in the past when I thought that chouinard was good.
